Is There a Natural Remedy for Limescale Build-up on Your Taps?
This week, we’d like to highlight a customer question that came in, and it is one that we get often so we thought it would be a good idea to include it as a blog post.
Laura from Christchurch asked:
I’m getting a lot of buildup of limescale on my bathroom and kitchen taps, and starting to get really annoying. When I turn the taps on and off, my hand gets grazed since it has gotten so hard that it almost feels like stone.
I would really love to know a natural product you would suggest to assist get rid of it? I would like not to use harsh chemicals.
Sincerely
Laura
Hi Laura, and thanks much for the question!
Sure thing, there is a way we recommend you use - Baking soda and vinegar are the greatest natural remedies for that annoying, crusty limescale. The actions you must take are as follows:
1)
Wrap a piece of kitchen roll or a towel in white vinegar and wrap it around the tap's base, where the limescale has accumulated. Not just moist, but good and drenched is what you want.
2)
Let it sit there for at least half an hour to an hour. If it's extremely stubborn, as yours seems to be, leave it for even longer, preferably overnight. The mineral deposits are broken down by the vinegar.
3)
Take off the cloth and sprinkling the area with a small amount of baking soda. The combination between the vinegar and baking soda causes it to bubble, which aids in loosening things up.
4)
Use a non-scratch sponge or an old toothbrush to gently scrub. The gunk ought to begin to move. Don't hurry; take your time.
5)
Rinse well, and make sure its dry.If necessary, you can carry out the procedure several times. Try again the next day if there are still little spots present. It will eventually lift.
Try cleaning your taps after each use to help stop it from returning, and if you live in a region with hard water, think about installing a tap filter or water softener.
